Drawing fidgety dog is not easy - she doesn't just change position, but keeps getting up and finding a new place to settle for a few moments. We'll need to work on that.

Graphite

I haven't used graphite for a long time (either), and it shows (as well). Perhaps it's time to vary all the ink and marker work a bit.

Out of pratice

Brought out my watercolour today - small palette and waterbrush - and sat in the garden with my watercolour sketchbook. I am so very out of practice with this, and since I only started sketching intermittently in watercolour last summer, the result is some very fumbling work.





This was the first attempt, and I tried to do everything - as usual

Very muddled and a sad lack of both focus and definition.





And the second attempt, where I tried to do much less

Rather fresh and slightly boring, but otherwise okay.

Being able to do outdoor sketching again is so nice :)

Exchange work

As you may know I am taking part in an international sketchbook exchange involving portrait drawing of all group members. You can follow our group here: Moly X Portrait 4, on our group blog. For the past couple of weeks I have been working on my entry for one of the books.

I used ink pens, markers, and coloured pencils for this. The whole book has a certain 60's - 70's feel to it, so that inspired my entry. Some of my first sketches were in the style of a 60's Bond film poster, with the girl as a regular Bond babe, but I changed my mind before starting in the book proper. This book is off to Spain next, where it will be worked in by our German group member, who is currently studying in Barcelona.
